“You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.”
— James Clear

Reflection

Motivation definitely feels good, but it’s unreliable. There’s been so many times where motivation has gotten me to maybe about a week or two of pursuing my goals and then out of no where I miss a day, and then another. Before I know it I’ve forgotten about the goal or just don’t have the “energy” to do it. This is where systems save you.

Systems are what carry you when your emotions disappear. The life you want is not built by one intense day. It is built by what you repeat when no one is watching. An example of a system is having your clothes for the gym ready the night before. This removes that “it takes too much energy to find clothes to wear”. Try it today. Create a small routine to remove the excuse of “this will take too much energy” for your specific goal.

Question

Ask yourself, what system would make the person you want to become harder to avoid?

Save this somewhere you’ll actually return to.
